Technology work for warehouses, carriers and shippers
Logistics systems are judged on whether the right thing left the right dock at the right time, and whether anyone can tell where it is now.
What makes this sector different
Warehouse execution is detail work. Slotting, wave and warehouse order creation rules, resource management and radio-frequency screens decide whether a design works on the floor. We staff and lead EWM and WMS work with consultants who have been in a building during go-live.
Transportation and carrier integration is where visibility breaks. Rates, tendering, tracking events and invoices move between systems and carriers in many formats. Building that layer with validation and alerting is usually higher value than a new dashboard.
Visibility needs event data, not reports. A shipment status that is accurate within minutes needs events from warehouse, carrier and customer systems joined on consistent identifiers. That is a data design job before it is a user interface job.
Where the work usually is
-
Warehouse design against reality
Configuration that does not match how material actually moves, so operators work around the system.
-
Carrier integration spread out
Each carrier integrated differently, with no shared validation or monitoring.
-
Inventory accuracy
Counts that drift because confirmations or moves are posted late.
-
Visibility gaps
Shipment events from one leg of a journey missing entirely.
-
Peak labor planning
No reliable productivity data to plan staffing against.
-
Customer-specific requirements
Labels, documents and reports that differ per customer and are maintained by hand.
Systems and platforms we work in
Platform names describe where our consultants have worked. They do not imply a vendor partnership or certification.
How we help
-
Warehouse management
EWM and WMS design and implementation, with floor-level process validation.
-
Transportation management
Rating, tendering, tracking and freight settlement flows.
-
Carrier and EDI integration
One integration layer with validation, alerting and a documented partner inventory.
-
Visibility and analytics
Event pipelines and a status model that is accurate within minutes.
-
Security assessment
External exposure, customer portal access and warehouse network segmentation.
-
Specialist staffing
EWM and WMS consultants, TM analysts, EDI analysts and integration developers.
Regulatory and contractual context
- Department of Transportation and FMCSA rules shape data captured in transport and driver systems.
- Customs and trade compliance duties affect documentation, classification and data retention for cross-border freight.
- Food safety rules under FSMA add traceability requirements for certain goods.
- Hazardous materials rules affect labeling, documentation and system controls.
- Customer contracts often set service level reporting that depends on accurate event data.
- Privacy rules apply to driver and employee data in labor and telematics systems.
Roles we recruit for this sector
Contract, contract-to-hire and direct hire. We do not sponsor visas: candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States.
Illustrative engagement
Illustrative scenario. Not a real client engagement. No outcomes are claimed.
A third-party logistics provider onboards customers slowly because each one needs custom labels, documents and reports built by hand.
- Starting point
- Per-customer configuration spread across label software, the WMS and a reporting tool, with no template.
- Scope
- Build a configurable onboarding template covering labels, documents and a standard report set, with a documented deviation process for genuine exceptions.
- Team
- A warehouse systems consultant, an integration developer, a reporting developer and an operations lead.
- Evidence
- Two customers onboarded against the template with the steps and effort recorded, plus a handover document for the operations team.
- What is not claimed
- An example of how we would scope the work. No client or time saving is claimed.
Questions people ask
Do you support go-live in a live building?
Yes. Warehouse go-lives need people on the floor during the first shifts, and we plan that support explicitly rather than treating it as remote hypercare.
Which warehouse platforms do you work with?
Most of our depth is in SAP EWM and Oracle WMS, plus integration around other platforms. We confirm at intake whether we have hands-on people for yours.
Can you integrate automation equipment?
Often, through the vendor’s interface. Where equipment needs its own vendor, we will say so during scoping rather than attempting it.
Can you provide staff for a peak season?
Yes. Short assignments are common here. Tell us the window, the location and whether the role is on-site.
