Oracle practice
Oracle consulting, implementation and migration
We implement and migrate Oracle Fusion Cloud applications, support E-Business Suite where it stays, build integrations and reporting, and place the functional and technical consultants an Oracle program needs.
Where Oracle programs get stuck
Oracle Fusion Cloud is delivered as a service. Oracle ships updates every quarter, configuration is done through setup tasks and functional offerings rather than code, and there is no database to patch or customize underneath. Teams used to E-Business Suite carry habits that do not work here: customizing core tables, relying on database triggers, applying one-off patches.
The hardest parts are rarely screens. They are the enterprise structure, which constrains everything else; the chart of accounts and hierarchy design; the quality of data loaded through FBDI and HDL; and the testing of integrations and quarterly updates. This page goes module by module so you can see what each one involves.

Financials
Fusion Financials is built around enterprise structures and Subledger Accounting. Most issues trace back to early structure decisions.

- What it covers
- Ledgers, legal entities, business units, chart of accounts segments and value sets, accounting calendars, primary and secondary ledgers, ledger sets, data access sets, journal approval, and the Enterprise Structures Configurator.
- What we do on projects
- Design the chart of accounts and segment hierarchies (trees) before anything is loaded, decide the ledger approach for local GAAP and reporting currencies, set up data access so each team sees the ledgers it should, and configure period close tasks and journal sources.
- Where projects go wrong
- Copying the EBS chart across without rethinking segment length and hierarchy. Treating enterprise structure as a setup task when it constrains every later module and is hard to change after transactions exist.
- Roles we staff
- Oracle Fusion Financials functional consultant (GL), enterprise structures lead

- Accounting methods, journal line rules, account rules, mapping sets, supporting references and the way subledger events turn into journals before they reach the ledger.
- What we do on projects
- Define subledger accounting methods per ledger, write journal line rules for the transactions that need custom accounting, and test the create-accounting process across payables, receivables and assets.
- Where projects go wrong
- Overriding the seeded rules more than necessary. Account rules that work in test volumes and slow down at period end.

How an Oracle project runs
- 1
Plan and scope
Offerings, business units, ledgers, countries, integrations and data volumes. Agree what is in the first release.
- 2
Design
Enterprise structure, chart of accounts, approvals, security and integration designs are agreed with business owners.
- 3
Configure
Setup through configuration packages. Prototype with real transactions, not demo data.
- 4
Build
Integrations, extensions, reports and conversion programs.
- 5
Migrate data
Several rehearsal loads with reconciliation. Each cycle produces a known set of defects to fix.
- 6
Test
System, integration, security, regression and user acceptance testing, including a quarterly update test.
- 7
Cut over
Cutover plan rehearsed, with go and no-go criteria.
- 8
Hypercare
Support through the first closes and the first update cycle.
Example: moving financial operations from EBS to Fusion

An illustrative walkthrough of the migration pattern for a mid-sized company. It is not a client case.
- Extract
- Open payables invoices, supplier master data and supplier bank accounts, customer open items, fixed asset cost and depreciation, and general ledger balances are extracted from EBS, with source counts and totals recorded.
- Map and transform
- Each source field is mapped to the matching FBDI or conversion template column. Chart of accounts segments are translated using a mapping table approved by the controller. Suppliers are deduplicated before loading.
- Validate
- Pre-load checks confirm required values, valid combinations and period status. Errors go to the data owner in a readable list, not as raw log files.
- Load
- Files are loaded through the import processes in dependency order, for example suppliers before invoices and assets before depreciation.
- Reconcile
- Trial balance by ledger and period, supplier balances, open invoice totals, customer balances and asset registers are compared against EBS. Differences are explained or fixed.
- Prove it works
- Business rules, such as approvals, payment runs and tax, are tested. Integrations, such as bank files and tax engine calls, are tested end to end. Operational readiness is signed off by the process owners.
What you receive
- Enterprise structure and chart of accounts design
- Source-to-target mapping workbooks

Questions people ask
Do we have to leave E-Business Suite?
Not by a date. Oracle has stated that Premier Support for EBS 12.2 runs through at least 2036. The question is whether moving delivers business value: easier updates, better analytics, less infrastructure. We help assess that before anyone commits.
How long does an Oracle Fusion implementation take?
It depends on scope, entity count, integrations and data quality. We give a range after a scoping workshop and say what could move it.
Can you work on a specific module only?
Yes. Many engagements add Procurement, Projects or EPM to an existing Oracle footprint.
How do quarterly updates affect us?
Oracle applies updates to your environments on a published schedule. You test your processes and extensions in a non-production environment before the update reaches production. We include regression testing in delivery and in managed support.
Is Oracle staffing separate from project delivery?
Yes. You can hire Oracle consultants on contract or direct hire without a project, or engage us to deliver a defined scope. Both are available.
