Oracle Financials implementation

Fusion Financials is built on a few decisions that are hard to undo: the enterprise structure, the chart of accounts and the accounting method. We make those with your finance team before configuring anything else.

What organizations bring us

Finance teams usually come to Fusion from E-Business Suite or a smaller system. The screens differ, but the larger change is design. A single chart of accounts with segment hierarchies replaces several local charts. Subledger Accounting decides how every subledger event becomes a journal. Data access sets decide who sees what.

Mistakes in these areas show up late, usually when the first real close reveals that a report cannot be built or an entity cannot be reconciled. We reduce that risk by designing with real trial balances, prototyping with real transactions and running parallel closes before go-live.

Financials areas

  • General Ledger and structures

Ledgers, legal entities, business units, charts, calendars, journals, approvals, revaluation and translation.

  • Subledger Accounting

Accounting methods, journal line and account rules, mapping sets and the create-accounting process.

  • Payables and payments

Invoices, approvals, holds, tolerances, payment process profiles, bank formats and supplier controls.

  • Receivables and collections

Transaction types, auto-accounting, receipts, lockbox, collections and customer accounts.

  • Fixed Assets

Books, categories, depreciation, mass additions, retirements and tax books.

  • Cash and bank reconciliation

Bank accounts, statement import, reconciliation rules, cash forecasting.

  • Tax

Regimes, rates, rules, registrations and third-party tax engine integration.

  • Intercompany and consolidation

Intercompany transactions, balancing, reconciliation and eliminations.

Implementation and migration services

  • Design workshops

Enterprise structure, chart of accounts, accounting rules and close process agreed with finance leaders.

  • Configuration and prototyping

Setup through configuration packages, tested with real trial balance data.

  • Conversion

Open items, balances, assets and suppliers converted with reconciliation to source.

  • Integrations

Banks, tax engines, expense tools, billing and payroll connected through Oracle Integration or files.

  • Reporting

Financial Reporting Studio, Smart View, OTBI and BI Publisher reports rebuilt from the list finance actually uses.

  • Close support

Parallel closes before go-live and the first closes after.

Common use cases

  • Consolidating several ERPs into one ledger design

A group with different charts and calendars agrees one global chart, with local statutory adjustments through secondary ledgers.

  • Statutory and management reporting from one source

Primary and secondary ledgers and reporting currencies produce local GAAP and group views from the same transactions.

  • Shared service center payables

One payables team serves several business units with approval routing, payment rules and supplier onboarding controls.

  • Bank connectivity and reconciliation

Statement formats from several banks are imported and matched automatically, with exceptions routed to treasury.

Questions people ask

Do we need to redesign the chart of accounts?

Usually yes, at least partly. Moving the old chart unchanged keeps old problems and can limit reporting. We assess the current chart with your controller before deciding.

Can Fusion support multiple GAAPs?

Yes, through primary and secondary ledgers and reporting currencies. The design depends on how much the accounting differs and what must be reported locally.

How many parallel closes should we run?

At least one, ideally two or three, with converted data. The first real close should not be the first time you test it.
