Systems integration

Integration is where many projects get stuck. Interfaces multiply, failures go unnoticed and nobody owns the connection. We design and build them with ownership, monitoring and error handling from the start.

What organizations bring us

Point-to-point connections grow quickly. After a few years the landscape is a web of scripts and middleware flows that nobody understands. A change to one system breaks three others. Failures are found by users.

We catalog interfaces, choose patterns (request/response, events, batch), and build with idempotency, retries, dead-letter handling and alerts. Each interface has a named owner.

What the platform covers

  • API design and management

REST and GraphQL APIs, versioning, security, gateway policies and developer documentation.

  • Event-driven integration

Kafka, Service Bus, SNS/SQS and platform events for decoupled systems.

  • iPaaS and middleware

MuleSoft, Oracle Integration, Azure Integration Services, SAP Integration Suite, Boomi.

  • File and EDI exchange

SFTP, EDI X12 and EDIFACT, AS2 and partner onboarding.

  • Data synchronization

Master data and reference data across systems with conflict rules.

  • Monitoring and operations

    Alerts, dashboards, replay and runbooks.

Integration

Integrations we commonly build:

  • ERP and CRM

Customers, orders, invoices and inventory between SAP, Oracle, Dynamics and Salesforce.

  • ERP and banks

Payment files, statements and positive pay.

  • HR and identity

Employees from Workday or Oracle HCM to Entra ID, Okta and ServiceNow.

  • E-commerce and logistics

    Orders, shipments and tracking.

  • Data platforms

Operational systems feeding warehouses and lakehouses.

  • Monitoring and ITSM

Events from observability tools into ServiceNow or Jira.

Technical architecture

Request and response

  • REST
  • SOAP
  • GraphQL

For interactive calls. Needs timeouts, circuit breakers and fallbacks.

Event driven

  • Kafka
  • Service Bus
  • Platform events

For reacting to change. Needs ordering and duplicate handling.

Batch and file

  • SFTP
  • EDI
  • Scheduled jobs

For volume and partner exchange. Needs control totals and reprocessing.

Orchestration

  • iPaaS flows
  • Workflow engines

For multi-step processes. Needs visibility and error handling.

How a project runs

  1. 1

    Inventory

Interfaces, owners, volumes and failure impact.

  2. 2

    Pattern selection

Choose per interface, with error and retry rules.

  3. 3

    Design and secure

    Contracts, authentication, schema versioning.

  4. 4

    Build and test

    Functional, volume and failure testing.

  5. 5

    Operate

    Monitoring, alerting and runbooks.

Questions people ask

Do we need an iPaaS?

Not always. For a few integrations, direct APIs may be simpler. As the number grows, a platform reduces duplication and gives central monitoring.

How do you handle failures?

Retries with backoff, dead-letter queues, idempotent processing, alerts to the owner and a tested replay procedure.
