ServiceNow practice
ServiceNow consulting, implementation and staffing
We implement ServiceNow workflows, build and repair the CMDB, connect monitoring and operations tools and provide the developers, architects and administrators a platform team needs.
What organizations bring us
ServiceNow works best when its data is right and its customization is restrained. Most troubled instances share two problems: a CMDB that nobody trusts, so impact and ownership cannot be determined, and years of scripted customization that make each family release a project.
We tackle both. We design processes around the platform’s standard models, align the CMDB to CSDM, assign ownership for data sources, and set governance so the instance can be upgraded on time.

IT Service Management
The workflows most organizations start with. Good design here pays off in every later module.

- What it covers
- Incident lifecycle, categorization, priority matrix, assignment rules, major incident management, problem records and known errors.
- What we do on projects
- Redesign the incident form around what agents need, define the priority matrix from impact and urgency, set up assignment and notifications, and connect problem to incident to change.
- Where projects go wrong
- Migrating the old category tree unchanged. Priority values chosen by whoever is shouting loudest.
- Roles we staff
- ServiceNow ITSM consultant, ServiceNow developer

- What it covers
- Change models, normal, standard and emergency changes, risk assessment, approvals, CAB scheduling, conflict detection and change calendars.
- What we do on projects
- Create change models by risk, automate approvals for standard changes, and set conflict detection against CIs and maintenance windows.
- Where projects go wrong
- A single heavy model for all changes. Approvals that no longer reflect who owns the service.
- Roles we staff
- ServiceNow ITSM consultant

- What it covers
- Catalog items, variables and variable sets, record producers, order guides, catalog client scripts, fulfillment flows and approvals.
- What we do on projects
- Build a small catalog of items people really request, design each with flow-based fulfillment, and measure which items are used.
- Where projects go wrong
- Three hundred catalog items in the first release. Fulfillment buried in scripts instead of Flow Designer.
- Roles we staff
- ServiceNow catalog developer, ServiceNow ITSM consultant
KB Knowledge, SLAs and virtual agent Knowledge bases and article workflow, SLA definitions, Virtual Agent topics, live agent, and search configuration.
- What it covers
- Knowledge bases and article workflow, SLA definitions, Virtual Agent topics, live agent, and search configuration.
- What we do on projects
- Create knowledge from resolved incidents, define SLAs from service commitments, and build Virtual Agent topics from the highest-volume requests.
- Where projects go wrong
- Chatbots built before there is useful knowledge. SLAs that cannot be met with the staffing in place.
- Roles we staff
- ServiceNow knowledge and virtual agent developer
IT Operations and the CMDB

- What it covers
- Configuration items and classes, the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), the Identification and Reconciliation Engine, relationships, CMDB health (completeness, correctness, compliance) and data certification.
- What we do on projects
- Agree which CI classes matter, align to CSDM, set identification rules and source precedence, and measure health. Fix data at the source by assigning ownership.
- Where projects go wrong
- Loading everything and cleaning later. Multiple sources writing the same attributes with no precedence.
- Roles we staff
- ServiceNow CMDB specialist, ServiceNow architect

- What it covers
- MID Servers, credentials, schedules, patterns, horizontal discovery, cloud discovery, and Service Mapping for application services.
- What we do on projects
- Place MID Servers and credentials securely, run discovery in phases, tune patterns, and map the top business services.
- Where projects go wrong
- Discovery against the whole network at once. Broad credentials stored without rotation.
- Roles we staff
- ServiceNow Discovery consultant

- What it covers
- Event ingestion, alert rules, correlation, service health, connectors to monitoring tools and alert-to-incident automation.
- What we do on projects
- Connect monitoring sources, reduce noise through rules and correlation, and tie alerts to services in the CMDB.
- Where projects go wrong
- Forwarding every alert to a ticket. Services not modeled, so alerts cannot be linked to impact.
- Roles we staff
- ServiceNow ITOM consultant

- What it covers
- Cloud provisioning catalog items, governance, orchestration through Flow Designer and IntegrationHub, and runbook automation.
- What we do on projects
- Provide governed cloud requests, automate repeated operations tasks and log each run.
- Where projects go wrong
- Automations with no ownership. Provisioning outside approval controls.
- Roles we staff
- ServiceNow ITOM developer, cloud engineer

- Roles we staff
- ServiceNow CSM consultant

- What it covers
- Vulnerability Response, Security Incident Response, Threat Intelligence, configuration compliance, and integrations with scanners and SIEM.
- What we do on projects
- Ingest scanner results, group by remediation, assign to owners through the CMDB, and run security incidents with playbooks.
- Where projects go wrong
- Importing all findings with no prioritization. CMDB gaps that prevent assignment.
- Roles we staff
- ServiceNow SecOps consultant
FLOW Flow Designer and IntegrationHub Flows, subflows, actions, spokes for common applications, REST and SOAP steps, error handling and credential aliases.
- What it covers
- Flows, subflows, actions, spokes for common applications, REST and SOAP steps, error handling and credential aliases.

- What it covers
- Scoped applications, update sets and source control, Automated Test Framework, instance scan, upgrade readiness, access control (ACLs), performance analytics and customization policy.
- What we do on projects
- Set the rule for what may be customized, scan for risky code, build regression tests with the Automated Test Framework and plan each family release.
- Where projects go wrong
- Direct changes in production. Global scope customizations that complicate upgrades.
- Roles we staff
- ServiceNow architect, ServiceNow platform owner
Implementation and migration services
-
ITSM implementation
Incident, problem, change, request and knowledge, designed around your service structure.
-
Incident workflow modernization
Simplified forms, better assignment, major incident process and measured SLAs, replacing years of layered customization.

Integration
ServiceNow sits between many tools. Typical connections:
-
Monitoring and observability
Events from monitoring tools create alerts and incidents tied to services.
-
Identity
Single sign-on, user and group sync with Entra ID, Okta or Active Directory.
-
Cloud providers
AWS, Azure and Google Cloud inventory and provisioning.
-
Security tools
Scanner and SIEM data flowing to vulnerability and incident workflows.
-
HR systems
Workday, SAP SuccessFactors or Oracle HCM feeding employee data.
-
Collaboration
Teams or Slack notifications and approvals.
Common use cases
-
Reducing major incident time
Events correlate to a service in the CMDB, the right on-call group is notified, and the major incident process starts automatically.
-
Onboarding across departments
One HR case creates IT, facilities and finance tasks with due dates and status in one place.
-
Vulnerability remediation by owner
Scanner findings group by fix, link to configuration items and route to the owning team.
-
Cloud request governance
Developers request environments from a catalog with approval, tagging and cost controls.
How a ServiceNow project runs

Questions people ask
Do we need to fix the CMDB before anything else?
Not everything, but ITOM, impact analysis and security workflows depend on it. We usually start with the services and classes that matter most.
Why does customization matter so much?
ServiceNow releases twice a year. The more custom scripts and global changes you carry, the more testing each release needs. Standard models and Flow Designer are easier to upgrade.
Can you integrate our monitoring tools?
Yes. We have integrated common monitoring platforms and can build connectors with Event Management and IntegrationHub where needed.
